We are measuring success everyday for KCBHAC. We have already partnered and advocated for grant dollars to serve our county which we highlight below. But one of our biggest successes that is often times difficult to measure is our ongoing collaboration. Although our workgroups meet monthly independently we are gathering every other month as one large workgroup and inviting the community to participate. Those collaborative efforts are helping us solve real-time problems and issues with behavioral health needs in Kendall County and more importantly collaboration is free.
January 16, 2024 75 Kendall County Residents gathered to map out how adult individuals in our county struggling with substance use or mental health issue interact with law enforcement and the judicial system. this project was truly impactful for our County and has had some great results, County Jail Social Worker, embedded MHDD employees with County, and hopes for a Behavioral Health Hub . The City of Boerne was able to apply for and win grant dollars for a much needed second mental health officer. This grant was awarded through Alamo Area Council of Governments Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. This grant provides a full year for this salaried position. Grant Money from AACOG and the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee.
Hill Country MHDD received Texas Senate Bill 292 Funding to employ a Qualified Mental Health Professional and a Peer Support Specialist to be imbedded with Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. To view More information about SB 292 click Here
